With the “shelter in place” mandate in the State of California currently in effect, I’ve had much more time at home. Initially, the plan was to wait until I was at least 32 weeks pregnant to begin a nursery refresh for my little one, but the extra time on my hands allowed me to jumpstart into revamping the space.
Our son will be using the same room that my daughter, Wyatt used as a nursery. If you’re not familiar with this space, below are a few photos of the nursery designed for Wyatt. I would label it very “California Bohemian" in style. Nothing wrong with it, but being in design and constantly seeing things change, not to mention my ever-evolving taste, I was itching to recreate this space for my son.
Here are images of the nursery that I created for Wyatt back in summer of 2016:
Think organic and neutral for my son’s nursery refresh. It will be quite the departure from the bright colors that I implemented in my daughter’s design. I’m focusing on texture and layering natural hues for an overall soothing feel. I want the space to be cozy, inviting, and intentional. I’m keeping a few items from the existing nursery set up including the vintage dresser I found off Craigslist, the Babyletto crib, the Peanut Changer, and the Alexander Calder inspired mobile from Etsy. I finished repainting the dresser a tan hue called “Apache Tan” from Dunn Edwards. The plan is to replace the old hardware with white oak knobs and pulls. I’m debating something like these below:
Here are a few images of nurseries that have inspired me lately:
Speaking of art gallery walls (which I don’t think are out by any means,) I’ve gathered a few pieces from my favorite artists and local vintage shops to put together a mini art gallery wall. You’ll have to wait until the nursery reveal to see all of the pieces, but I can’t wait to share with you!
I know that May is just around the corner, and I hope to post photos of the finished space before baby arrives! This nursery is extra special to me as it’s filled with pieces from some of my favorite shops, makers, and talented friends that I’ve met through Instagram. I’d like to link a few for you if you’re so inclined to pay them and their websites a visit:
